Day 14: Gringo

This is a word you must already know, if you are an American. Gringo is the slang word Mexicans use to refer to the people of your country. Theres many colorful stories about this one. One says that during the Mexican American war from 1846-1848, American soldiers sang a song with the lyrics “green grows…” in the beginning, while they were marching. Other one says that some people said “Green go home” to the soldiers, who were dressed in color green, and there are many others, but none has been proven true, and might be only legends passed on by people.

I hope you have learned something new, about the spanish that real Mexicans talk on their everyday life.
